REQUIREMENTS to work for FOUR20 IN ALBERTA

In order to work for any cannabis retailer in Alberta, you MUST complete the Qualified Cannabis Worker (QCW) Application Process through the Alberta Gaming Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC).


Step 1

Acquire a Criminal Background Check

You must go to a police station in-person; online applications do not qualify. The cost of a police check is $30.00, and the process can take up to 3 weeks.

  • If you tell them it is needed for work reasons, they may rush it for you.

  • Police check must be less than three (3) months old.


Step 2

Complete the AGLC Sell Safe program 


  • Online tutorials must be completed. The cost is $25.00 +GST and will require 3‐4 hours of online learning.

Step 3

Mail or courier your AGLC Qualified Cannabis Worker (QCW) Application Package

  • Visit the AGLC Website and download/complete the AGLC QCW Application form

  • Submit directly to AGLC your: AGLC QCW Application form; Police Criminal Background Check; AGLC Sell Safe certificate registration number; and a copy of your birth certificate or passport
