what is CBN!?

Cannabis products have been so focused on CBD and THC that you probably didn’t even realize there were so many other cannabinoids to be excited about. In fact, research has shown there are nearly 100 cannabinoids in the cannabis plant, and we are just scratching the surface of possibilities in this industry.

We are excited to share that the legal recreational industry in Canada is starting to catch up to where research has been dabbling for years, and new innovations highlighting alternative cannabinoids are starting to show up in stores.

In this blog, we are chatting with FOUR20’s Dr. Ife Abiola, on one such cannabinoid that is making waves on the scene—CBN.

What is CBN?

Dr. Ife: Cannabinol (CBN) is a cannabinoid that's derived from THCA. When THCA isn't decarboxylated (activated through intense heat), it will slowly become CBN. Exposure of THCA to time, UV light and oxidation allows for THCA to become CBN.

What does it do?

Dr. Ife: CBN is unique because it causes people to feel drowsy.

How should I use it?

Dr. Ife: CBN can be used any way you could use THC or CBD. It can be ingested, taken by mouth or vaped. Using CBN for a recreational or social effect isn't a good idea. You won't be able to enjoy the effects, and will only end up dozing off or possibly feeling dysphoric.
